Direct drive torque motors
Kollmorgen KBM™ and Cartridge DDR® use direct drive technology to eliminate the need for a mechanical transmissions such as gears or belts. These torque motors are directly coupled to the load and particularly suit demanding applications where space restrictions combine with the need for the highest dynamic performance in motion control. These non-contacting, zero-backlash direct drives offer long life and very low maintenance for all areas of high throughput production and test.
The exclusive Cartridge DDR direct drive servo motor features an integrated, factory-aligned high resolution feedback device in a unique bearing-less one component design that couples directly to the load, using the machine’s own bearings to support the rotor. This torque motor provides up to 50 percent more torque density than comparably sized conventional servo motors and with quick and convenient installation is especially suited to applications in printing and packaging machinery.
KBM™ Direct Drive
KBM series frameless direct drives are supplied in kit form as a separate rotor and stator package for direct integration into the customers' machine. With considerable space saving capability, the modular torque motor range is particularly suited to co-engineered modifications for highest performance positioning control in the most compact space.
Iron-core linear motors boast high power density, but also a certain degree of cogging depending on the system.
IC Series Ironcore motors provide the highest force per frame size. The patented anti-cogging design yields extremely smooth operation.
